Course description
We will take you out to select locations across Devon and Greater Exmoor to restore an original stonewall to its former glory.
With your own bare hands you will personally repair and restore a small piece of living England.
The aim of this course is to give you some background information about the ancient practice of stonewalling across Devon and to look at the importance of their presence and formation.
You will expect to dismantle a dilapidated section of wall, sort out the stone, replace the foundations and rebuild the wall.
You will learn how to ‘tie’ the stones together, how to dress the stones to fit and how to apply the copping stones on the top.
You will need:
- We will provide all the necessary tools for rebuilding the walls, although some people may prefer to bring their own hammer and gloves.
- Tea and coffee and fresh drinking water will be provided.
- You will need sturdy footwear, an open mind and all the energy you can muster!
No prior experience is necessary to attend this course.
